A powerful new short film featuring Daniel Ellsberg will be screening at the NY Justice Film Festival on Tuesday, February 24, 3:30-4:30pm at the Firehouse Cinema.

Directed by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Judith Ehrlich, An Ordinary Insanity is a 27-minute film in which Ellsberg presents the urgent planetary danger posed by nuclear weapons and encourages action to dramatically reduce the threat. He draws upon his history as a nuclear war planner and as a peace activist, arrested 80 times.

Judith filmed Ellsberg just one year before he died in June 2023. Speaking directly and passionately into the camera, he notes at the beginning of the film, “I’ve long said that to my last breath I will be doing what I can to postpone and avert the risk of nuclear war.”

The New York Justice Film Festival calls the film “both terrifying and galvanizing”.

With the recent end of the new START treaty our hope is that the film will be a timely tool to help mobilize greater public concern and action for arms control and disarmament.
