Jake Assael
Jake Assael is the policy coordinator of the Environment & Health program, where he helps implement PSR’s climate, public health, and renewable energy goals. Jake has built his career around accelerating the transition from fossil fuels, including co-founding Vote Climate U.S. PAC, which creates voter guides scoring presidential and congressional candidates on their climate credentials. At Vote Climate, he managed research, media outreach, and supervised the volunteers and interns. Jake also served as an associate with the Environmental Protection Network, convening and leading teams of former EPA career officials, non-profit partners, and community organizations to create oral and written critiques of EPA rulemakings. Jake’s work experience also includes a stint on Capitol Hill as a policy advisor for Warwick Group Consultants, advocating for increased federal coastal resilience and shoreline protection funding on behalf of coastal municipalities. This past September, he completed the Clean Energy Leadership Institute’s 2021 fellowship, taking a five-month crash course on the technologies, policies, and financing needed to create an equitable clean energy economy. Jake has a Master’s of Public Administration from American University, where he concentrated in environmental policy and received the William K. Reilly Scholarship for environmental leadership.
